Charles Oppenheimer <p><a href="/collections/susan-barlow">Susan Barlow</a><br /> Susan has been making jewelry in downtown Santa Fe for 20 years. As a fine arts major, she sculpted in marble and wood, and is now pursuing her life long dream to make jewelry. Each of Susan’s pieces is a small sculpture; the natural world, strings, material folds, ribbons, and other substances are some of her inspirations.</p> <p>Instead of marble and wood, she uses carving wax and miniaturizes the sculptures. Working in the negative, she carves the piece of jewelry. The wax is then cast in sterling silver or gold, and the result is a signature contoured, textured piece. There is depth, shadow, and many three dimensional aspects.
